Solution Sales & BD

I joined an internet of things (IoT) startup called Droplit as a business-oriented cofounder in 2015, right as the first build-out for their smart-home platform was completed. Due to the large players entering the consumer IoT space, we decided to pivot to become an enterprise IoT development platform. On this new direction, I spearheaded multiple fundraising rounds, created partnerships with infrastructure players like Cisco and Qualcomm, and sold into several verticals including consumer electronics, ISPs, and proptech.

DroplitHub

Qualcomm was betting big on Bluetooth Mesh being a key technology for IoT adoption. However,  Bluetooth devices required a IP-based hub for connectivity, and we were one of the only with a working software stack for such hubs. I developed a partnership with Qualcomm which led me to China to establish a manufacturing relationship with TCL and channel partnerships with ODMs to launch a white-labelled Bluetooth Mesh hub for Qualcomm's customers.

Droplit Cloud

A pervasive problem in IoT development was the command & control infrastructure and the number of integrations necessary launch a service. I positioned Droplit as an application enablement platform that would accelerate product launches by abstracting the technical complexity of different protocols and ecosystems into a single API.

Technical Blogging

As the Sales and Business Development Lead at Droplit, I undertook the responsibility of crafting thought leadership content through technical blog articles. These pieces, informed by my experience in the IoT industry, offered insights into critical issues such as IoT adoption challenges, standards, protocols, and the intricate relationships within the OEM and ODM landscape. Through these articles, I aimed to provide valuable knowledge to the industry and establish Droplit as an authoritative voice in the field.
